Summary

Our brother in Egypt urgently needs dialysis and his wife urgently needs life saving blood transfusion and several operations

Story

During the Bosnian war, an Egyptian brother married a Bosnian sister and together they built a family with five children. Their lives since then have been marked by immense hardship. When they returned to Egypt, the family was forcefully separated for several years. During this time the husband became disabled, leaving the mother to struggle alone with the children. The family survived on occasional handouts and suffered severe malnutrition.

Today, the mother’s life is in serious danger.

Years of illness and hardship have left her extremely weak. After suffering cholera, she lost a dangerous amount of weight and strength. Her heart now beats at around 130 beats per minute, leaving her constantly breathless and fainting. She also suffers from severe hemorrhoids, chronic pain, and has nearly lost the sight in one eye, which causes intense migraines.

She was born with one leg shorter than the other, and complications during her last childbirth severely damaged her hip and spine. Her condition has deteriorated so badly that she can barely move. She has already required three blood transfusions, yet her health continues to worsen. She urgently needs hospital admission, medical investigations, and surgery, which the family cannot afford.

Her husband is also critically ill. A few years ago he suffered a heart attack, and with your previous donations we were able to fund his life-saving open heart surgery. Today he suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, and kidney failure, and now requires dialysis every 2–3 days.

Despite being extremely weak, he continues to work. With jobs scarce, he travels four hours each way into the Sahara desert for work that barely feeds his children. Meat is something this family only sees from one Eid to the next.

Your support has helped this family before.

In June 2021, we helped save the life of their son Hamza when his appendix ruptured and infection spread through his blood. We also supported their daughter Sumayyah, who suffered life-threatening complications and severe blood loss following a C-section. Today their 19-year-old son has had to leave university and now works for just $100 a month to help support his family, while his younger siblings remain in school.

Despite their own hardships, this family has continued to help distribute aid to other struggling families across Egypt during Ramadan, serving others even when they themselves had very little.

Now they desperately need our help again.

Let us come together once more to support this family and help save the lives of both parents.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever relieves a believer’s hardship in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection."

Please donate and help us support this family once again.
