Every year, the college raises accommodation fees and food prices, both in Buttery and Hall, to account for their cost increases due to inflation. Last year, this increase was 1.56% for accommodation, and 0.35% for food.
This year, due to inflation and gas prices, the cost has increased much more than usual. The college has made the difficult decision to raise accommodation prices by 6.92%. This means that undergraduate students will have to pay between £627.06 and £996.97 more per year. This is the largest financial increase in accommodation prices seen since 2006!
This appeal is to top up this difference for a young sister from East London who is currently studying at Cambridge. She is the only Muslim hijabi girl in the whole year! What an achievement mashaAllah tebarakAllah!
